Travel Review & the Children of the Sheldrick Trust

Preparations for the Kenyan Adventure that spanned over a year finally came to a head mid-February through to mid-March.

The Children of the Sheldrick Trust headed by Wildlife Coordinator Mrs. Jackie Vet raised over thirty-five thousand pounds sterling in aid of Daphne Sheldrick’s Orphaned Elephant Project and the Kenya Wildlife Services in Tsavo East National Park. Their initial plan was to come to Kenya, evaluate facilities funded by the ‘Children of the Sheldrick Trust’ and present a cheque. The MD of ATR had other ideas though that proved hugely successful.

Instead of just coming out to hand over the proverbial cheque, Colleen Hogg, MD, ATR suggested that the children do something far more exciting which would tie in appropriately with the cause. The group hiked up Mt. Kenya to raise additional funds.

ATR, the linchpin in voluntarily organizing the full itinerary for the children from Bury Church of England High School received overwhelming support from local tour operators and hotels offering complimentary transport and accommodation.

For their tremendous support ATR would like to thank :

Somak Travel for providing complimentary transport.
Holiday Inn for complimentary accommodation in Nairobi.
Alliance Hotels for complimentary accommodation up Mt. Kenya.
The Giraffe Centre for complimentary entry and tour.
Tatton’s Safaris for the Tsavo safari.
